Joel Chadabe, Explorer of Electronic Music’s Frontier, Dies at 82

Joel Avon Chadabe was born on Dec. 12, 1938, in the Bronx and grew up in the Throgs Neck community. His father, Solon, was a attorney. His mom, Sylvia (Cohen) Chadabe, was a homemaker.

Joel attended the non-public Bentley School in Manhattan and studied classical piano. His moms and dads hoped that he would turn out to be a attorney, but as an alternative he researched songs at the College of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating in 1959.
